The Garmin Edge 1060 is Garmin's new premium cycling computer flagship for road, gravel and mountain biking. It keeps the 3.5-inch color display of the Edge 1050, but puts it in a much more compact housing and adds buttons to the touchscreen. The new feature is voice control: using the built-in microphone and speaker, you can retrieve data, start activities and send messages without taking your hands off the handlebars.
Compared with the Edge 1050, the changes concern the design, the controls and the navigation: 19 g less weight, touch plus buttons, routing preferences, route preview and Up Ahead. Display, storage and battery life stay the same. If you already own an Edge 1050, the main additions are voice control and reverse charging. If you are buying your first Edge or upgrading from an older one, you get Garmin's most complete feature set for navigation, training and safety.

- voice control only available in selected languages, performance depends on riding conditions
- messaging, GroupRide, incident detection and weather data require a paired smartphone

- charging via the USB-C cable is not intended while riding
Who is the Edge 1060 for?
The Edge 1060 is aimed at riders who want navigation, training guidance and safety features in one device. It suits long tours in unfamiliar regions, group rides, performance-oriented training with a power meter, and mountain bikers who want to analyze enduro and downhill runs.
Hands-free voice control
Say “Okay Garmin” to activate voice control. You can use it to start an activity, retrieve performance data, set navigation destinations, search for places along your route or report hazards. The Edge 1060 reads out ride data and finds routes that are already loaded.
In combination with the Garmin Messenger app and a compatible smartphone, you can send and receive text and voice messages directly from your handlebars. The speaker also delivers navigation, safety and performance announcements and triggers the digital bell. Voice control is only available in selected languages, and its performance may vary depending on riding conditions.
Navigation and route planning
Before you start, the Edge 1060 shows distance, estimated riding time, traffic conditions and reported hazards. You can compare several route suggestions, and suggestions take time and bike type into account. With the routing preference, you choose between the most popular routes, the fastest route, the least elevation gain and the fewest stops.
The Up Ahead feature shows selected places ahead of you, for example cafés, drinking water points, public restrooms or bike shops, including their distance. The Trendline popularity map shows the most popular routes. ClimbPro provides gradient, remaining distance and elevation of upcoming climbs, even without a preloaded course. E-bike routing checks at the start of your tour whether the battery of your paired e-bike is sufficient for the route. The route planner also works without a smartphone and without an internet connection.
Satellite reception and maps
The Edge 1060 receives GPS, GLONASS and Galileo in multi-band mode. This provides highly precise track recording, even in narrow mountain valleys or urban canyons. The preinstalled Garmin cycling map distinguishes heavily used, paved and unpaved roads. If you leave your route, the Edge recalculates it. You update maps via the map manager over Wi-Fi, without a PC.
Training and performance analysis
The Edge 1060 provides performance data such as Stamina, Power Guide, Cycling Ability, course demands, training load, training status and recovery time. Power Guide creates a power strategy for your route and also considers Stamina and wind. Smart nutrition alerts tell you how many carbohydrates and how much fluid to take in, based on your fitness, the route, temperature and humidity. Many of these features require optional sensors.
- Garmin Coach with adaptive and preset training plans
- training plan synchronization with Garmin Connect, TrainingPeaks and TrainerRoad
- daily training suggestions directly on the Edge
- optimized workout data page and segment data pages
- gear ratio analysis with electronic shifting
- compatible with power meters and Cycling Dynamics
Mountain bike features
For MTB, the Edge 1060 offers enduro and downhill profiles with 5 Hz GPS recording, split times, the preinstalled Trailforks map, ForkSight and MTB Dynamics with grit, flow and jump analysis. ForkSight shows you the distance, length, elevation gain and loss, and difficulty of the next trail.
Safety and connectivity
Community hazard reports also appear in the route planner. With a paired smartphone, automatic incident detection sends your position to your emergency contacts and notifies GroupRide participants. Bike Alarm alerts you when your bike is moved, and Find My Edge helps you locate it. GroupRide adds live locations, leaderboards and the comparison of heart rate, power and cadence with the group average.
The device pairs with Varia radar (vehicle detection up to 140 meters), indoor trainers, electronic shifting systems and Garmin inReach. With SRAM RED AXS, you can control data pages and settings via the shift levers, and the same applies to Shimano Di2. It also offers smart notifications, real-time weather, LiveTrack, music control, Connect IQ and Garmin Share. With Garmin Pay, you pay contactlessly, provided your bank supports it.
Battery life and reverse charging
The lithium-ion battery lasts up to 20 hours of intensive use with active navigation and paired sensors. In battery saver mode, up to 60 hours are possible. Battery life depends on usage and settings. With the reverse charging function, you charge your smartphone, Varia light or other accessories directly from the Edge 1060. This requires a compatible USB-C cable, and the function is not intended for charging while riding.
