Inpeak Powercrank Shimano XTR M9100

The Inpeak Powercrank Shimano XTR FC-M9100 is a single-sided power meter for high-end MTB bikes with a Shimano XTR crank. It measures on the left crank arm and combines a very light setup with simple power measurement. On race hardtails and light XC bikes, every detail matters. This model keeps the system lean while still delivering the power data you need for structured training.

Strengths and weaknesses

  • Single-sided power measurement with solid accuracy (± 2%).
  • CR2032 battery is quick and easy to replace.
  • Integrated cadence measurement.
  • Only 10 g added weight.
  • ANT+ and Bluetooth LE.
  • Automatic temperature compensation.
  • IP67 protection.
  • Compatible with Shimano XTR FC-M9100.
  • Left-side measurement only.
  • No true left-right balance data.
  • TL-FC16 tool required for installation.

Who this model suits

This model suits XC and marathon riders who use a light race bike and still want to train properly by power. It works for hard intervals, racing and targeted training control. If you want to combine low weight, function and simple handling, this model is a very good fit.

Why the battery version makes sense

On race bikes, simple maintenance is often more important than added complexity. You can replace a flat battery quickly yourself. You do not need to manage charging and stay flexible in daily training. That is why the battery version still makes sense even in the high-end segment.

Compatibility and installation

The power meter fits Shimano XTR FC-M9100. The housing sits on the inside of the left crank arm. Around 10 mm of frame clearance should be available in the power meter area. For installation you need the Shimano TL-FC16 tool. You can find more matching models in our Inpeak category.

Single-sided measurement in race use

The power meter measures only the left leg and doubles the value for total power. In practice this is enough for training, load control and racing. A dual-sided system gives more data, but it is not automatically the better solution. In XC and marathon use, a light and simple system is often the more rational choice.

Connectivity and daily use

The power meter sends power and cadence via ANT+ and Bluetooth LE. That lets you pair it with many bike computers, apps and training platforms. Automatic temperature compensation keeps the readings stable in changing conditions. You install firmware updates wirelessly through the Inpeak app.

Alternative systems

If you want a similar Shimano crank-arm power meter, you can also browse our 4iiii category. Both systems follow a similar idea. In our experience, Inpeak power meters are more robust and come back less often as complaints.

If you prefer a pedal-based system, you can also browse our Favero Assioma category. For classic MTB use, the SPD-based Assioma MX series is especially relevant.
