The Kickr Core 2 is the upgraded version of the popular Wahoo Kickr Core. Key improvements include:

Compatible Bikes

The Kickr Core 2 works with most road bikes, gravel bikes, triathlon bikes, and mountain bikes (24–29 inches). It supports both quick release and 12x142/12x148 thru-axles. Not compatible: single speed/fixie bikes, track bikes, recumbents, and certain models such as the Canyon Ultimate with rim brakes.

Compatible Cassettes

The cassette situation can be confusing, with different freehub standards (HG, XD, XDR, MicroSpline), gear counts (7–12 speed), and sprocket ranges. When in doubt, just ask us – we know what works and are happy to help.

7- and 8-speed cassettes: Various options exist. Generally compatible, but we recommend installation at a trusted workshop.

9- and 10-speed cassettes: Work without issues. Use the included 1.8mm spacer on the Kickr freehub for proper cassette fit.

11-speed cassettes: The Kickr Core 2 comes with a basic 11-speed 11-28 cassette. Compatible with all 11-speed drivetrains – Shimano, SRAM road, 11-speed MTB, and Campagnolo. We can also install a higher-end 11-speed cassette matching your groupset.

Shimano 12-speed Road: Cassettes from 105, Ultegra R8100, and Dura-Ace R9200 fit the Kickr freehub without issue.

Shimano 12-speed MTB (MicroSpline): MicroSpline cassettes do not fit the Kickr, and no adapter exists. Examples: SLX M7100, XT M8100, XTR M9100. MTBs with Shimano 12-speed groups can still be used via the SRAM NX Eagle PG1230 12-speed cassette as a workaround.

SRAM 12-speed Road (XDR): Wahoo provides a dedicated XD/XDR freehub for installation.

SRAM 11- and 12-speed MTB (XD): Also compatible via Wahoo's XD/XDR freehub.

Construction and Design

The Kickr Core 2 is built from robust steel, remaining stable even at high wattage. The 5.4 kg flywheel delivers a realistic riding experience, maintaining momentum like riding outdoors.

Connectivity

Thanks to ANT+, multi-Bluetooth, and WiFi, the Kickr Core 2 is compatible with nearly all devices. Most apps like Zwift and TrainerRoad connect via Bluetooth or ANT+, and WiFi ensures stable PC or laptop connectivity when needed.

Kickr Bridge

The new Bridge function allows, for example, a heart rate monitor to connect directly to the Kickr Core 2. The data is then sent to your app – no need to connect each sensor individually.

Kickr Workout Modes

In the Wahoo Fitness App, you can choose from several training modes:

• Level: classic trainer mode – the faster you ride, the higher the resistance.
• Resistance: manual resistance adjustable from 0–100%.
• ERG: fixed wattage – the trainer automatically adjusts resistance.
• SIM: realistic simulation based on weight, bike type, position, wind, and gradient.

Brake Unit

The electronic brake delivers up to 2,300 watts resistance and simulates gradients up to 20%. Accuracy is excellent at ±1%. Automatic calibration replaces the manual spindown required by the previous model.

Noise Level

The Kickr Core 2 is one of the quietest smart trainers on the market. It uses the same optimized drive as the Kickr V6; only the chain noise is audible, making it ideal for apartments and noise-sensitive environments.

Power Accuracy

With ±1% accuracy, the Kickr Core 2 measures your power very precisely. Cycling Dynamics like left-right balance are not supported, but total power is reliably displayed.

Cadence

The Kickr Core 2 does not have a dedicated cadence sensor but calculates cadence via software. This works surprisingly well for most training sessions.

Calibration

Unlike the original Kickr Core, which required regular manual spindown, the Kickr Core 2 calibrates automatically, providing consistent and accurate readings without extra effort.

Assembly

The Kickr Core 2 is securely packaged. Before first use, attach the feet to the frame using the included tools and install the appropriate adapters for quick release or thru-axles. The trainer is then ready to ride.
